Softening the Architecture

Perched above the Yarra River in Melbourne, Como Terraces by Carr presents apartment living through a distinctly residential lens. Calm, tactile and highly resolved, the interiors are shaped by a careful tension between architectural precision and softness.

At the entry, the Swivel Double Wall Sconce sits alongside an expansive steel-framed pivot door. Its dark metalwork connects naturally with the fine framework of the glazing, while two elongated shades angle gently away from one another, introducing subtle movement at the threshold.

The 12:40 Backwards Facing Wall Sconce continues this dialogue within the kitchen and living spaces. Directing light back across the wall, illumination traces the surface and reveals its texture, allowing the architecture itself to become part of the lighting composition.

As the residence transitions into its more social spaces, the geometry softens further. Above the dining table, the generous overlapping curves of the Rolo Double Down Double Pendant introduce a sculptural counterpoint to the room’s rectilinear architecture. Nearby, Cuff Bar Stools sit against the solidity of the travertine island, their cylindrical forms and tailored detailing bringing warmth and tactility to the stone.

The result is an interior in which architecture, furniture and lighting feel inseparable, each contributing to the quiet balance between precision and softness that defines Como Terraces.
